Feb. 10, 2011 ALEKS is a K-12 mathematics curriculum. It lets a child go at his own pace. The program allows feedback. The child can identify his weaknesses. Take a look: http://www.aleks.com. They offer a free trial: http://www.aleks.com/free_trial/consumer. Is there some grade level when you know you will be an unfit math teacher? Prepare for this now. If your child gets used to learning in a particular way, there will be no falling off the mathematical horse while changing in mid-stream. There will be no changing in mid-stream. It's not free. But if you know you will hit a brick wall at some point, and for some reason your child does not learn well through the videos of the Khan Academy, ALEKS may be your fall-back position. Watch a pair of short videos. http://www.aleks.com/video/homeschool_tourhttp://www.aleks.com/video/homeschool_qt_tour For a survey of what the program offers, click here.
